What would the people living where everything is so contaminated like to be done for themselves and their families? There needs to be massive aid there but how likely is it that they will be able to deal with contaminated ground water on that scale. There has basically been nothing done whatsoever, not for an accident of that magnitude.

Well, I ask but that's what I'm looking up now. I should probably wait to comment but it makes me so mad.

Dow, by buying UCC, is most definitely responsible for what the company did before. Effing Dow!

Well, they were here in the first place because they thought they could get away with cutting corners. So, you could say, there was some pretty dastardly thinking that preceded the event!

And yeah, it is upsetting how both governments and companies refuse to be accountable. UCC just ran off, got sold to Dow, and now Dow says, "Hey, it wasn't us!" And the government doesn't seem to care. Who's caught in the middle -- some of the most severely marginalized sections of society, whose children are still being born with defects because of what happened a quarter of a century later, and who have no choice but to drink contaminated water...

It always upsets me when companies (and governments) think they can get away with this sort of thing. Actually, I guess there is no "thinking" involved because they can get away with it thanks to the almighty dollar. UGH
