As one of introductions pithily stated, Stockholm is as much a character as any of the other people in the books. This is a good one - the lack of twists and turns in no ways takes away from what is a very good police procedural. I agree with you entirely about the translation - but yes, the stilted language somehow makes it more endearing, more European, if you know what I mean. It's a huge relief to not have to read senseless Americanisms on each page! And I've always thought, too - why are Martin Beck and Gunvald Larsson (easily my favourite :smile: ) always referred to by their full names? No one else is! This series is among the best books I've read in a long time. Buy them all.
