Along with them were their two brats, one of them just a toddler, and to look after the brats was this young girl who seemed about 12. So while the grown-ups sat and ate, and the kids got fed, this other child just stood around, wiping and cleaning up after the smaller children. People actually let this sort of thing happen with a clear conscience, and the kids are going to grow up thinking they can treat domestic help as though they were lesser humans. And anyway, one knows one cannot expect anything sensible from the TOI - or any daily, for that matter. But you're so right - contemptible is the word for it. The Women's Commission is fighting for stricter laws against rape and sexual abuse at the hands of the police, or bosses - people in power - how about adding employers of domestic help, too? Some of the maids start so young, too (which is a crime in itself) - how are they to defend themselves against predatory males? And there was Shiney Ahuja's wife screaming herself hoarse on behalf of her husband - now that's he confessed to infidelity, she's gone surprisingly silent. And remember her statement - men can be raped too?? So we are to believe that a woman from the lower classes 'raped' a rich, influential actor. I mean, seriously!
