A book release but no book!

If it seems ridiculous, rest assured it’s happened to me! Here I am now, with an almost-published book to my name due for release in a literature festival, and—surprise, surprise—NO BOOK!

I suppose I shouldn’t be complaining. After all, my manuscript was accepted for publication with relatively minor headaches. I liked the publisher, they liked me… at least that’s what they say, and I’ll take them at their word! Yes, the production period was a bit painful—it was a whole year till we finally managed to bring the book out (almost out, I should say!).

When Zubaan, my publishers, told me about the event in Jaipur where the book was to be released, I was quite amused, because, by some coincidence, the date happened to be the birthday of my main character!

But now the printers say that the earliest they can give us a copy is the evening of 21 January, and our “event” is in the morning, in a different city!

That life, folks!

Hey as long as the book is published, minor details like the fact that the book will be printed after it is released should not matter 🙂
    Have fun at Jaipur.

This is one of those things you’d see in those witty TV shows. Didn’t the publisher have any awkward moments like a journalist asked if she could see a copy? 🙂

Anywasy, the good thing is that it is in the stores on Monday! Yipee!

And hey do you have any pictures from the launch to share here?

Am dying to know what happened at the launch – want a detailed account. And you must have the book with you by now? Tuesday, I thought you said?

But it is quite bizarre, though – never heard of a book launch without a book! 😮
