Joy, fun, and seasons in the sun

First winter in SeasonsMy Sim-land now has seasons! Yes, that’s right, I finally took the plunge and bought another expansion pack: Sims 2: Seasons.

After the fiasco that was Pets, I was a little apprehensive how my ageing laptop would handle Seasons. But I admit, I should have believed Marie — it’s playing quite well. I see no difference in performance from when I had just Open for Business.

Well, so what’s new in Seasons? Apart from… well… seasons. For one, Sims can now garden and fish, and the more they do, they better they get at it. They can grow their own food (or catch it), and even sell produce.

The seasons are not just for show, by the way. If you’re into gardening, you need to keep an eye on the elements. Ponds freeze in winter, and so do Sims if they aren’t properly dressed. Of course, they won’t be happy if you send them out in the blistering heat in their overcoats. I don’t know all that much about the seasons as I’ve only seen autumn and a couple of days of winter so far.

A penguin waddled over to admire Klaus’s snowman. It was cute, but apparently they can become quite pest-y. Will have to keep an eye on that one.

  1. Yes! Marie is not stupid when it comes to Sims! Bow before her!

  2. The penguin is love. He is tricky though, it is so true.

    I’m glad you have Seasons!

  3. I love the greenhouse, and growing stuff! I have yet to try out the new careers. It’s tempting to do everything in the first family you play, but I’m trying to control myself!

I should make a new family. Maybe it’s time to bring on Patrick Harkness!

  4. The greenhouse is a lot of fun! Can you grow a lot of things at once or does it get to be too much for you?

I only have three plants and three trees so far.

  5. Well, as you can see from the piccy above, I have a tiny greenhouse. It’s currently growing cucumbers and strawberries. I’ve had a good tomato crop as well.

I could do with the garden landscaping tips though!

  6. I would be happy to try build landscapes for you!

  7. That could be arranged…
