Feeling blue

Microsoft Windows usually does a great job of keeping us on our toes, but this has to take the cake. While I was otherwise occupied, my Windows XP took an update (via the Automatic Updates feature), and while trying to install itself deleted an essential DLL file and blue-screened itself.

The question remained whether to laugh or cry. After all, I was in the middle of an impending deadline and it was 5:48 in the morning (after working all night).

Thankfully, this Windows installation was on MacBeth, which meant it was a BootCamp partition. Which in turn meant that I managed to boot into Mac OS and retrieve my files.

Sometimes one forgets what a piece of junk Windows is. Then a BSOD happens and we live happily ever after… at least until the next one.

It’s now 6:03. I can only grin maniacally and look longingly at my bed…

  1. Ugh, what a pain. I’m glad you could retrieve your stuff! I still say Macs are overpriced though. 😈

  2. I disagree. If you compare the specs feature by feature, you won’t find much of a price differential between a Mac and a PC laptop with identical config. They are slightly more expensive, but I’d gladly pay that amount not to contend with Windows!
    >:D

And you stop complaining… In your land you can get a refurbished Mac for lots less!!
